Resumen
Honda (Tolima, Colombia) es reconocida por haber sido el puerto fl uvial más importante al interior del Nuevo Reino de Granada, dada su estrecha relación con Santa Fe. Sin embargo, el salto de Honda a lo largo del tiempo ha sido un lugar privilegiado para la pesca durante temporadas de subienda.
En la colonia, la pesca fue una actividad importante para el sostenimiento de la población, tanto local como regional. La explotación pesquera se integró a la economía colonial y se fue transformando al mismo tiempo que la composición

El análisis de documentos históricos (desde fi nales del siglo XVI hasta fi nales del siglo XVIII) se realizó teniendo en cuenta cuatro aspectos del ciclo productivo de la pesca: recursos explotados, tecnología, trabajo e intercambio, esto permitió caracterizar tres momentos de la explotación pesquera, diferenciados por las formas de trabajo de los pescadores que podían ser indígenas, mulatos, negros, mestizos o españoles, dependiendo del momento cada uno de ellos con un estatus diferente dentro de la sociedad.
Dicha fi liación étnica determinó el acceso al río, razón por la cual la Corona se encargó de administrar los sitios de pesca, de esta forma obtuvo benefi cios económicos y organizó a los pescadores de Honda.

Honda (Tolima, Colombia) is well known because it was the most important port inside of the Nuevo Reino de Granada and because its close relation with Santa Fe. However, rapids in Honda a long the time have been a privileged fi shing ground, specially in Subienda season, when fi shes go up river.
